Privacy policy

Effective 21 September 2026. Afritesting handles personal data in Kenya under the Data Protection Act, 2019.

1. Who we are

Afritesting is the organisation responsible for the personal data we collect to run this research recruitment service. Contact: hello@afritesting.com.

2. Data we collect

Participants. Name, email, phone, password, county, age range, work and education details, behaviours (such as M-Pesa or shopping online), research preferences, National ID or passport number, payout details (M-Pesa or bank), screener answers, study applications, device signals used for quality checks, and messages we send you about studies.

Clients. Name, work email, phone, company, invoice details (including KRA PIN if you provide it), study briefs, screeners, payments, and how you use the workspace.

We do not ask participants for a quality score, and we do not sell panel lists.

3. Why we use it

• Create accounts and keep them secure.
• Match participants to studies and run screeners.
• Check for duplicates, inconsistent answers, and other quality issues.
• Schedule sessions, send invites, and pay incentives in KES.
• Review, price, and collect payment for studies.
• Meet legal, tax, and dispute-handling duties.

National ID is kept for quality and payouts. Research teams do not see it.

4. What clients see

Clients receive the participant details needed to run a booked session or confirmed completion. They do not get the underlying panel file, National ID numbers, or payout numbers.

If you join a live interview or product test, the session happens on the client’s tool (for example Google Meet or a prototype link). Recordings and notes from that session are handled by the client. They should tell you before recording.

5. Who else may see data

We use infrastructure providers to host the product, send email, and process payments. They only get what they need to provide that service. We may share data if Kenyan law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and study records while your account is active, and for as long as we need them for payouts, quality review, tax, or a dispute. You can ask us to update or delete your account. We may keep a limited record if a payout or fraud check is still open.

7. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct, or delete your data, or object to some uses. Email hello@afritesting.com. You can also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner in Kenya.

8. Children

Afritesting is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update this page and, where required, ask you to accept the new version in the product.
